The purpose of this economics executive summary is to provide economic assessments of interventions to aid smoking cessation. It summarizes the roles of tobacco product prices and provides information on the cost-effectiveness of various tobacco control interventions supporting smoking cessation. Evidence from the economic analysis of nicotine replacement and other pharmacotherapy is reported in addition to the impact of reducing patient out-of-pocket and other costs for accessing effective cessation therapies. The interaction between the distribution and availability of nicotine replacement and other pharmacotherapy, their utilization and the effectiveness of other tobacco control interventions are analyzed. Given the types and nature of the existing economic evidence, recommendations for policy and areas for further research are suggested. logo
